Bangkok to Celebrate The Way MJ Made Us Feel

BANGKOK — Nine years ago this month, the world stood still on word King of Pop was dead.

June 25 marks the ninth anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson, who is unforgotten by his fans around the world, who will throw a tribute night for him downtown Bangkok.

Remember the Times, A Tribute to Michael Jackson, organized by Michael Jackson Club Thailand, is a night of live performances dedicating to the American star who would have turned 60 this year.

The Philippines’ Legacy Band will perform Jackson megahits “Thriller,” “Billie Jean” and “Beat It.” The dance party will be led by singer-dancer Pacharapon “Vit AF” Jantieng and Kriengkrit “Oddyhero” Durongpisitkul, who is known for his RoboCop dance moves.

Niwat “Michael Ken” Otthon, who won the 2014 Ripley’s Believe It or Not! event in Pattaya as a performer able to do the longest continuous moonwalk (1.2 kilometers), will also be at the event.

Tickets (500 baht including a set meal) can be reserved in advance. A portion of the proceeds will go to Heal the World Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Jackson in 1992.

The tribute night will starts at 8pm on June 24 at Hard Rock Cafe Bangkok. The restaurant and entertainment venue is located in Soi Siam Square 11.
