Multiple attacks hit Thailand’s southern border provinces

A series of attacks, including arson, explosions, tire-burning and an armed robbery, were reported at multiple locations across Thailand’s three southern border provinces on Saturday night, causing damage and prompting security authorities to deploy teams to inspect the affected areas.

The incidents began at around 20:00 in Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat provinces, according to local reports.

In Yala, attackers reportedly set fire to government vehicles inside the Ban Rae Subdistrict Administrative Organization office in Than To district and a telecommunications tower in Si Tha Nam village. Tires were also burned in several locations, while an advertising sign along Route 418 was set on fire.

Authorities also found nails scattered near a Bangchak petrol station in the direction of Ban Niang and a suspicious object near a bend in Yala’s Lam Mai subdistrict.

In Narathiwat’s Cho Airong district, tires were burned at two locations, while CCTV cameras were reportedly turned upward in one area. An explosion was reported near a DTAC telecommunications tower in Chuap subdistrict, followed by another loud noise believed to have been an explosion.

In Pattani, attackers reportedly fired shots and left a suspicious object near the Bang Pu intersection. An armed group also robbed a 7-Eleven convenience store in Bang Pu before burning tires along Highway 42 near the Yaring Hospital U-turn.

Security personnel in all three provinces are inspecting the affected areas, collecting evidence and assessing the damage. No official casualty figures have been reported.

The Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid affected areas and follow instructions from authorities.

Residents who encounter suspicious people, objects or vehicles are advised not to approach or touch them and to immediately notify local authorities.
