SAMUT PRAKAN — 29 August 2026, One man was killed and seven others injured after an electric sedan crashed into a group of motorcycles outside a convenience store in Bang Phli district.
The Prakan Rescue Command Centre received an emergency call via the 1669 hotline at 08:10, reporting that a car had crashed into several motorcycles outside a convenience store in Soi Mahachai, Bang Phli Yai subdistrict, Bang Phli district, Samut Prakan province.
Rescue workers and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation were dispatched to the scene to assist the victims.
Seven people, both men and women, were found injured. Most were motorcycle riders and members of the public who were near the motorcycle stand outside the convenience store. Rescue workers provided first aid before taking the injured to nearby hospitals.
A 57-year-old man, identified as Cherdsak Sutthinun, was found dead at the scene.
Police found an electric passenger car with Bangkok registration plates, believed to be the vehicle involved in the crash. The car was heavily damaged and remained among several damaged motorcycles, with belongings and vehicle parts scattered across the road.
About nine motorcycles were damaged in the crash. The motorcycle belonging to the deceased was severely damaged and was reportedly almost beyond use.
The deceased man’s wife told authorities that her husband had just left their home, located not far from the scene, to buy coffee. She had initially been riding with him on the motorcycle but got off near the crash site shortly before the collision.
She said her husband was riding through a three-way intersection when the electric sedan approached, drove through the intersection and violently struck his motorcycle.
The impact killed him at the scene. His wife was also hit and injured, but she had fortunately gotten off the motorcycle shortly before the crash.
The driver of the electric sedan was also injured by the impact. Rescue workers provided first aid and took the driver to hospital.
The crash caused panic among people near the convenience store, as the area was crowded with members of the public and motorcycles when the incident occurred.
Police from Bang Kaeo Police Station inspected the scene and collected evidence, including CCTV footage. Investigators will question the driver, witnesses and people who saw the crash to determine the exact cause and proceed with legal action.
