AYUTTHAYA — A fire broke out at a recycling warehouse in Bang Pa-in district early on 4 September, prompting authorities to deploy nearly 10 fire trucks to bring the blaze under control.
At around 01:00, Pol. Lt. Col. Noppadol Phusamrong, deputy investigation inspector at Bang Pa-in Police Station, was notified of a fire at a warehouse buying and storing recyclable materials in Village 5, Ban Sang subdistrict, Bang Pa-in district.
Fire trucks from Ban Sang Municipality and nearby local administrative organizations were dispatched to the scene.
The site was a recycling materials collection and storage facility covering about 1.5 rai. Large quantities of plastic bottles, scrap paper and other recyclable materials were stored on the premises, providing highly combustible fuel for the fire.
The blaze spread intensely and produced large amounts of thick black smoke.
Firefighters sprayed water to contain the flames and established a defensive line to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring properties.
A nearby scrap-materials shop and an automobile repair garage were among the properties at risk, raising concerns that the flames and heat could cause damage.
Firefighters took about two hours to bring the blaze under control and confine it to the affected area.
Later, Ayutthaya Governor Chuanin Wongstitjirakan visited the scene to inspect the situation.
The governor said the site consisted of a warehouse and storage yard where recyclable materials purchased from various sources, including materials brought in by members of the public, were collected before being sorted and sent for recycling.
The stored materials included plastic bottles, scrap paper and various other recyclable items.
Three workers were at the warehouse at the time of the fire, authorities said.
No injuries or deaths were reported.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Officials will inspect the suspected point of origin and conduct a detailed investigation to establish what caused the blaze.
