Thailand’s Department of Mineral Resources will offer free admission to five geology museums nationwide on 13 October 2026 to commemorate the anniversary of the death of King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great.
Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin announced on 10 October that the department would waive admission fees for Thai visitors on Tuesday, giving families and young people an opportunity to learn about geology, fossils and mineral resources during the holiday.
The five museums offering free entry are:
- Lampang Geology Museum, Lampang: A major centre for geology and natural history in northern Thailand.
- Sirindhorn Museum, Kalasin: A dinosaur museum and a regional centre for fossil research, recognised at the ASEAN level.
- Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum, Khon Kaen: Located in the area where Thailand’s first dinosaur fossils were discovered.
- Queen Sirikit National Geological Museum, Pathum Thani: Offers exhibits on geology, mineral resources and geoparks near Bangkok.
- Phunphin Geological Museum, Surat Thani: Features educational exhibits on geology and geological hazards in southern Thailand.
The Department of Mineral Resources is inviting Thai residents and tourists to visit the museum nearest them on 13 October and explore Thailand’s geological heritage without paying an admission fee.
