CP tycoon gives Nene Royal gold Buddha as she receives US$1.2m condo

BANGKOK – Charoen Pokphand Group senior chairman Dhanin Chearavanont has given young Thai guitarist Nene Royal a gold Buddha image and his blessings as her family prepares to move into a luxury condominium worth 35 million baht (US$1.2 million).

Nene, 16, visited the Mulberry Grove The Forestias Condominiums on Thursday, 29 October, to receive the keys to the family’s new home.

“Today is an auspicious day to receive the condominium from the CP chairman,” she wrote on social media, adding that Dhanin had also presented the family with a gold Buddha image and offered his blessings for their move.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit has a floor area of about 98.69 square metres. It was reportedly given to Nene’s family before they travelled to the United States for the final of America’s Got Talent.

From Phuket guitarist to America’s Got Talent winner

Nene Royal, whose real name is Rattikan Amloy, was born in Phuket on 14 March 2010. She taught herself to play guitar using YouTube videos from a young age and began performing publicly under the name Nene Royal at 12.

She appeared on Thai television talent show Super 10 in 2022 and later competed in the Overdrive Guitar Contest, where she placed first runner-up in 2023.

Nene gained international attention in 2026 through America’s Got Talent, impressing judges with her guitar playing and powerful vocals. She earned a Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B and went on to win the competition with a performance of “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes.

Her victory made her the first Thai contestant to win the US talent show.
