Def Jokes? Laugh at Canadian Stand-Up’s Hearing Woes

BANGKOK — Start next weekend with a laugh when a Canadian comedian steps onto the stage of a downtown comedy club.

As part of his world tour, D.J. Demers will stop by Bangkok to steal some chuckles from stand-up fans at a Phrom Phong-area club.

The comedian has an auditory disorder and bases most of his humor on his impairment, and past tours have been sponsored by makers of hearing aids, which he has worn since childhood.

Stand-Up Comedy – D.J. Demers! will run 8:30pm to 10:30pm on Aug. 17 at the Comedy Club Bangkok, a short walk from BTS Phrom Phong in Soi Sukhumvit 33/1. It’s upstairs from the Royal Oak pub. Online tickets are 500 baht until Thursday and then 600 baht. Tickets at the door will be 800 baht.
