Gambling den raided, 31 arrested in Chonburi

CHONBURI — 22 January 2026, Authorities raided an illegal gambling den in Bang Lamung district, arresting 31 people and seizing cash and gambling equipment, officials said.

At about 19:06, Bang Lamung district chief Anusak Phiriyom ordered a joint operation led by district officers and police to target the gambling site in Nong Prue subdistrict. The den was located in the middle of Soi Phatthanakan 4, Moo 6, in a house without a street number on rented land.

Officers found the operation running openly despite nearby residential homes. About 30 gamblers were inside, along with one dealer who was shaking dice and calling results as players placed bets, cheering loudly and disturbing neighbours.

Authorities seized cash, betting boards, dice trays, covers, three CCTV cameras used to monitor players, and display screens showing dice results, giving the setup the appearance of a small casino.

When officers identified themselves, some gamblers attempted to flee in the ensuing chaos, but all were captured. The air-conditioned room was equipped with electronic displays showing dice scores.

During the raid, a woman in her 50s claimed to suffer a heart condition and showed symptoms, causing brief confusion. Rescue volunteers were called and she was taken to hospital.

The dealer told officers the gambling den had been operating for about a week. He claimed the raid occurred because the organisers had forgotten to make offerings to local spirits, saying the lack of protection led to their arrest.

All 31 suspects, along with the seized items, were handed over to investigators at Nong Prue police station for legal proceedings.
