BANGKOK — 24 June 2026, A runner who competed using another participant’s race bib at the 17th Dok Bua Ku Mini-Half Marathon has admitted wrongdoing, returned all prize money and awards, and agreed to cooperate with legal proceedings, race organizers said.
Dok Bua Ku organizers announced that the incident occurred during the 17th Dok Bua Ku Mini-Half Marathon, held to mark the brand’s 49th anniversary. The runner was found to have violated competition rules by wearing another person’s BIB number and crossing the finish line in place of the registered participant.
According to the organizers, the runner met with police and race officials on 24 June 2026 to return all prize money and commemorative products received from the event.
The runner reportedly admitted to intentionally violating the rules and agreed to enter the legal process while fully cooperating with police investigators.
Organizers said they have already taken the following actions:
- Legal proceedings have been initiated against all individuals involved.
- All prizes and awards have been recovered.
- The competition results of the rule-breaking participant have been officially disqualified. The offender and all related parties have been permanently banned from participating in future editions of the Dok Bua Ku Mini-Half Marathon.
- Rankings in the affected age-group category have been revised, promoting runners who complied with the rules. Organizers have contacted all newly ranked athletes and arranged the distribution of prize money and commemorative awards.
The organizing committee apologized to runners affected by the incident and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting competitions in a transparent and fair manner.
Officials said the case would be used to strengthen future measures, including identity verification, participant checks, and monitoring of runners competing for prize-winning positions.
The organizers also thanked runners who provided information and cooperated in helping maintain the integrity and fairness of the competition.
