TIANJIN, China — 25 August 2026, Thailand women’s volleyball team maintained their unbeaten run at the 2026 AVC Women’s Continental Championship, defeating Kazakhstan 3-1 on 25 August to win Group B and advance to the quarter-finals.
The Asian championship is being held in Tianjin, China, with Thailand taking on Kazakhstan in their third Group B match at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium.
Ranked 17th in the world, Thailand entered the match after two consecutive wins and six points, already securing a place in the last eight. Kazakhstan, ranked 41st, had one win and one loss from their opening two matches and three points, putting them second in the group.
The tournament champions will earn a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States. The champions, runners-up and third-place team will also qualify for the 2027 FIVB Women’s World Championship.
Thailand head coach Kiattipong “Coach Aot” Ratchatakriangkrai opted to rest middle blocker Thatdao Nuekjang for the match.
Thailand’s starting lineup featured Pornpun “Chompoo” Guedpard, Kaewkalaya “Thip” Kamulthala, Pimpichaya “Beam” Kokram, Chatchu-on “Bumbim” Moksri, Sasipaporn “Aomsin” Janthawisut and Kanyarat “Bow” Khunmuang, with Kanyarat Khamwong playing as libero.
Thailand controlled the match well but briefly lost momentum in the third set. They recovered strongly in the fourth to seal a 3-1 victory, winning 25-22, 25-16, 23-25 and 25-11.
The result gave Thailand their third straight victory and a perfect nine points, securing top spot in Group B and a place in the quarter-finals.
The result keeps Thailand’s hopes of reaching the 2028 Olympics alive.
