RAYONG — 18 September 2026, A man was killed and four people were injured after two groups of teenagers exchanged gunfire near Mae Ramphueng Beach in Rayong late Thursday night, with a bystander among those hit.
The shooting took place near the venue of the “Mae Ramphueng Beach: Colors of the Eastern Region” festival, which runs from Sept. 18–20 and features concerts by popular artists each night. The concert on Thursday night was performed by the band Maleehuana.
After the concert ended, tourists began leaving the venue when two groups of teenagers reportedly got into an argument. The groups exchanged insults and shouted challenges at each other before appearing to disperse.
Several gunshots were then heard.
A bullet struck Panandat, who was not involved in the confrontation and was on his way home. He died at the scene.
Four other teenagers involved in the altercation were also injured after being caught in the gunfire.
A member of the public reportedly captured video of the incident. Investigators at Muang Rayong Police Station are examining the footage as evidence and have identified a suspect believed to be the shooter.
Police investigators are urgently searching for the suspect and preparing to take legal action.
