DE has intensified its crackdown on online gambling during the final stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026, blocking more than 55,000 gambling-related URLs in just over one month.
Ms.Nan Boontida Somchai, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society, said that Mr.Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, has instructed the Ministry to strengthen measures against online crime by intensifying the blocking of illegal social media accounts, pages, and websites, with a particular focus on online gambling and related URLs. The policy also supports the directive of Prime Minister Mr.Anutin Charnvirakul, who has called for closer cooperation among relevant agencies to combat online gambling during the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has continued blocking illegal gambling-related social media accounts, pages, and website URLs under court orders, while also working closely with online platforms. Between 1 June and 12 July 2026, during the FIFA World Cup 2026, the Ministry blocked a total of 55,377 gambling-related URLs, including 29,402 URLs in June and 25,975 URLs between 1 and 12 July 2026.
“The DE Ministry has worked closely with relevant agencies and digital platforms to strengthen the blocking of online gambling URLs in line with the policy of Minister Mr.Chaichanok Chidchob. Since the beginning of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in early June, more than 55,000 gambling-related URLs have been blocked using AI technology to detect and analyze illegal gambling websites.
Members of the public who encounter online gambling activities can report them through the GCC Hotline 1111 ext. 87 or by email at csoc@mdes.go.th, operated by the Ministry’s Illegal Website Monitoring Center. We also remind the public that posting or sharing content related to illegal gambling or online scams on digital platforms or social media—even unintentionally—may constitute an offense under Section 14 of the Computer Crime Act,” Ms.Nan Boontida said.
