DE Warns of Fake GSB Personal Loan Website

DE warns the public about a fake website impersonating the Government Savings Bank (GSB) and offering personal loans, urging people to beware of scammers seeking money and personal information.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), through the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand (AFNC), has released the latest results of its fake news monitoring and reporting efforts. The initiative is in line with the policy of Mr.Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, to strengthen public awareness of technology-related crimes, fake news, and misinformation.

On 6 September 2026, AFNC monitored a total of 106,028 messages, of which 10,316 required verification. The largest number of leads came from Social Listening, accounting for 10,315 messages, followed by one message received through LINE Official. A total of 17 issues required verification, with results received from relevant agencies for seven cases.

Among the seven stories that attracted the greatest public attention, one was confirmed as true, four were identified as fake news, and two were identified as misleading information:

Misleading Information: Passports stamped by Thai Immigration with the remark “Working Without Permission” will result in a lifetime ban from entering Thailand.

Fake News: Cambodian soldiers stepped on caltrop traps planted by Thai soldiers.

Fake News: A fire broke out at the Government Lottery Office on 1 September 2026.

True News: The Cabinet approved the National Catastrophe Insurance Scheme, providing coverage against floods, storms, and earthquakes.

Fake News: The Government Savings Bank (GSB) has launched the website m.blffinanc to offer personal loans.

Fake News: Bangkok Bank is offering loans of THB 50,000 with monthly repayments of THB 1,400 and no guarantor required through the website khao-d.com/archives/33.

Misleading Information: A Royal Thai Air Force helicopter entered Cambodian airspace.

One of the notable fake stories claimed that the Government Savings Bank had launched the website m.blffinanc to offer personal loans. The DE Ministry, in coordination with the Government Savings Bank under the Ministry of Finance, confirmed that the claim is fake.

The website is fraudulent and was created by scammers impersonating the Government Savings Bank to offer online loans. It uses promotional messages such as “Borrow up to five times your income” and displays the logos of GSB and other financial institutions to appear credible and deceive people into submitting personal information when applying for loans.

The use of the Government Savings Bank’s logo does not mean that a loan service is officially authorized or endorsed by the bank. The public is therefore advised to verify the source and official channels of financial institutions before providing personal information or applying for online loans.

The DE Ministry remains concerned about the spread of fake news and misinformation across online and social media platforms. Sharing unverified information may lead to misunderstanding, financial losses, misuse of personal information, and broader impacts on society.

The public is encouraged to trust and share information only from official sources and to carefully verify facts and website links before believing or forwarding any information.

People who encounter suspicious information or possible fake news can report it or verify information through the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand via Hotline 1111 ext. 87, available 24 hours a day.
