Thailand ready to power RE100 companies toward 100% renewable electricity goals

On October 5, 2026, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA), the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) discussed Thailand’s renewable energy trading options in an exclusive meeting titled “Powering Corporate Ambition in Thailand’s Energy Landscape.” The event was held for companies committed to 100% renewable electricity targets, operating under the Climate Group, at Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit Hotel.

The three utilities presented Utility Green Tariff Type 2 (UGT2), a green electricity service designed to meet RE100 technical criteria. ERC also shared the progress of the Direct Power Purchase Agreement framework through Third Party Access (TPA), which allows companies to purchase renewable electricity directly from power producers. Together, these two options help businesses in Thailand access renewable energy and report their greenhouse gas emissions reductions in accordance with international standards, moving toward their 100% renewable electricity goals.
