Thai queen showcases silk fashion during Paris visit

PARIS, France — 1 July 2026, Thailand’s Queen exuded elegance during the Thai royal family’s visit to Paris, the world’s fashion capital, on Tuesday, wearing two ensembles crafted from Thai silk.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, Queen Suthida and Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya proceeded to lay a wreath at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France, in honour of the Unknown Soldier before visiting Paris City Hall and viewing urban development along the banks of the River Seine.

The Queen drew public attention wearing a dark olive-green Thai silk ensemble by Thai fashion house Meshmuseum. The outfit, tailored from Luk Tho silk, a distinct, high-quality handcrafted Thai textile renowned for its soft texture, slight weight and natural surface knots that give it a unique, rustic charm, featured a long-sleeved, high-neck jacket adorned with round silver-set black spinel buttons, paired with a matching A-line skirt. The ensemble was complemented by a Cattleya orchid brooch, diamond-and-black-spinel earrings and a silver box clutch adorned with a cabochon sapphire, beautifully reflecting a graceful and contemporary interpretation of Thai silk.

Later the same day, the King and Queen visited the exhibition La Mode en Majesté – Royal Thai Dress: From Tradition to Modernity at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, following an invitation from Princess Sirivannavari.

The Queen changed into a gold-brocaded silk coat dress by Meshmuseum, featuring motifs inspired by the Himmapan Forest, a prominent theme in Thailand’s cultural and artistic heritage. The long, fitted coat dress, worn over a matching gold-brocade silk dress, was embellished with gold buttons and intricate sequin embroidery. She completed the ensemble with garnet earrings and an oval-shaped Thai Yan Lipao basketry handbag decorated with garnets in the Pra Jum Yam motif, a radial star-flower design in Thai ornamental tradition featuring a symmetrical rosette of eight or sixteen petals built on a circular grid and traditionally used as a central or corner motif in elite and ceremonial compositions.

The Queen’s appearances in Thai silk once again highlighted the invaluable heritage of Thailand’s textile craftsmanship on the international stage, blending traditional motifs with contemporary elegance and presenting a magnificent sight against the backdrop of Paris, the fashion capital of the world.
