NAKHON SI THAMMARAT — 22 July 2026, the beloved ginger cat that went viral after appearing as a “witness” in a police drug arrest has returned to bring smiles once again—this time jokingly introduced as a police “officer”, prompting netizens to tease that it had been “promoted.”
The update was shared by the Facebook page ชุดไล่ล่า เมืองนคร, which posted a photo with the caption: “Today, I’m here as an officer, not a witness.”
In the image, the orange tabby is wearing a Spain national football team jersey while sitting alongside police officers during their shift as if taking part in a patrol, prompting another wave of playful comments from social media users.
The cat first became an internet sensation on 16 July after officers from the Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat Police Station’s pursuit unit arrested a man on drug-related charges at his home. The arrest photo drew widespread attention because the ginger cat casually wandered over and sat beside the suspect and the seized evidence, leading the page to caption the image: “One pile of evidence, one witness.”
The photo quickly went viral, with many netizens jokingly asking whether the cat should also undergo a drug test, while others declared that the “witness” looked ready to testify.
After the page shared the latest update, users continued the joke with comments such as: “The promotion wasn’t for solving a friend’s case but its owner’s case,” “From witness to full-fledged officer,” and “Thanks to the police for taking such good care of it.”
Although intended as a light-hearted post, the ginger cat has become a favourite among followers of the page, providing another cheerful moment amid the force’s updates on law enforcement operations.
