BANGKOK — The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) plans to launch a new feature on the Traffy Fondue application that will allow residents to request adult diapers for elderly people and patients requiring long-term care, with the system expected to go live by 1 August.
Deputy Bangkok Governor Tavida Kamolvej said on Wednesday that the new function is intended to improve access to healthcare benefits for eligible residents.
She said some requests have already been submitted through the system, but officials need one to two weeks to finalize the reporting form. The process requires medical verification of applicants’ conditions as well as accurate location data, making the protection of users’ personal information a key priority.
The BMA expects the system to be fully operational by 1 August.
However, Tavida said the launch of the application feature will not mean immediate distribution of adult diapers. Authorities will still need to conduct on-site assessments, verify applicants’ locations and complete procurement procedures for bulk purchases.
The BMA has coordinated with Thailand’s National Health Security Office (NHSO), which has agreed to provide funding through the national health security fund and oversee procurement and quality inspections.
Tavida said the initiative is part of the BMA’s 100-day policy agenda. The administration aims to begin distributing adult diapers by 1 October, the start of the new fiscal year, after completing system development, budget preparations and procurement procedures.
