BANGKOK — 15 October 2026, A network of Thai activists opposing the IMF-World Bank is holding a major protest at Khlong Toei intersection on 15–16 October, coinciding with the institutions’ annual meetings in Bangkok.
The two-day gathering features symbolic demonstrations and speeches by members of the public and communities who say their lives have been affected by development projects and economic policies associated with the World Bank and IMF.
The activists are challenging what they describe as the institutions’ dominance over development approaches and economic policymaking, as global finance officials meet at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
The demonstrations are scheduled to continue through 16 October.
