BANGKOK — 13 July 2026, Thailand’s national junior badminton team returned home on 13 July after a superb performance at the Jaya Raya Junior International Grand Prix 2026 in Tangerang, Indonesia, where they won three gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
The team was welcomed upon arrival by Air Chief Marshal Monthon Satchukorn, president of the Badminton Association of Thailand, who presented the players with bouquets in recognition of their achievements and dedication throughout the tournament.
Monthon described the competition as one of the world’s leading international junior badminton tournaments, featuring talented young players from several countries.
“This is another significant achievement for Thai badminton,” he said. “Our junior athletes performed exceptionally well, winning three gold, three silver and three bronze medals. Overall, it is a commendable performance.”
He said part of the team’s success stemmed from athletes who came through the Thai Domestic Power programme, a talent development initiative jointly organised by the Sports Authority of Thailand, the National Sports Development Fund and the Badminton Association of Thailand.
The programme scouts promising young players from regions across the country before selecting them to represent Thailand at international tournaments, including the Jaya Raya Junior International Grand Prix.
Monthon also praised the outstanding performances of junior players representing clubs across Thailand.
He expressed confidence that the current generation of junior players would become an important force in strengthening Thailand’s senior national team in the years ahead.
