NAGOYA, Japan — 27 September 2026, Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon bowed out of the women’s singles at the Asian Games 2026 after losing to world No. 1 An Se-young of South Korea in the quarterfinals.
The badminton competition at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, is being held at Ichinomiya City Gymnasium in Nagoya.
Ratchanok, a former world champion, was unable to overcome defending Asian Games champion and Olympic champion An Se-young, losing 8-21, 9-21.
The defeat ended Ratchanok’s campaign in the tournament at the quarterfinal stage.
In mixed doubles, Thailand’s Ruttanapak Oupthong and Chayanicha Sudjaipraparat also exited after losing 18-21, 14-21 to Taiwan’s Hong Wei-yeh and Nicole Gonzales Chan.
Thailand now has only one badminton player remaining in the Asian Games: men’s singles player Kunlavut Vitidsarn.
Kunlavut will compete in the final remaining event for Thailand in badminton.
