TAK — 8 November 2026, Cyber police have arrested three men accused of supplying bank mule accounts to scam gangs operating along the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Sot district, Tak province, seizing 40 mobile phones with banking apps already installed.
The arrests were made on 8 November during a search of a building at 117/7 Ban Thung Road in Mae Sot subdistrict under a search warrant issued by the Mae Sot Provincial Court, No. 224/2569.
The operation was ordered by Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) Commissioner Pol. Lt. Gen. Tinnakorn Rangmat and carried out by officers from the CCIB’s Division 4 and Subdivision 2.

The suspects were identified as Thitawat, 42, Thanawat, 31, and Satawat, 35, all residents of Tak province.
Police seized 40 mobile phones with banking applications installed and ready for use, four additional phones allegedly used to contact prospective customers, seven notebooks and 20 methamphetamine pills.
The investigation began after officers received information that the building was being used for the illegal buying and selling of bank accounts. Investigators suspected the network was supplying mule accounts to scam operators and call-centre gangs still operating near the border.

Police gathered evidence and obtained the court warrant before raiding the premises and arresting the three suspects.
During questioning, the suspects allegedly admitted working together to recruit people to open bank accounts and install banking applications on mobile phones. They recorded each account holder’s personal details, app passwords, email addresses and phone numbers.
People recruited to open accounts were reportedly paid between 8,000 and 10,000 baht per account. The suspects then resold the accounts to scam gangs and online gambling operators, making a profit of 2,000 to 3,000 baht per account. Police said the operation had been running for more than a year.

The three men were charged with jointly procuring, advertising or publicising the sale, rental or lending of deposit accounts, electronic cards or electronic money accounts for use in technology-related crimes or other criminal offences.
Thitawat also faces an additional charge of illegally possessing a Category 1 narcotic, after police found 20 methamphetamine pills during the search.
