Princess Sirivannavari bids heartfelt farewell to beloved dog Perfume after 15 years

Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has shared a loving tribute following the death of Perfume, her beloved Yorkshire Terrier and longtime companion, who died on 30 October at the age of 15.

In an emotional Instagram post accompanied by photographs, the princess recalled 15 years of companionship, from their first meeting at Suvarnabhumi Airport to their travels across Europe, describing Perfume as a source of happiness, inspiration and comfort throughout her life. Perfume is also known as ‘Namhom’ in Thai (น้ำหอม).

Addressing her “baby girl Perfume”, the princess affectionately described her as strong, patient, cheerful, mischievous and sometimes stubborn.

She recalled how Perfume had brought her happiness since arriving in her care at just three months old. Although the dog’s intelligence, mischievousness and strong personality sometimes gave her headaches, the princess said Perfume had inspired her in countless ways.

The princess also fondly remembered Perfume’s love of fashion, describing her as a true fashionista. She enjoyed dressing the dog in outfits and bringing her to events, joking that she often spent money on clothes and accessories but was always happy to do so.

Among her most cherished memories was a train journey to the Netherlands when Perfume was still a puppy. The princess recalled taking an early photograph of her companion with a train ticket, only to realise she had accidentally taken it upside down.

Their adventures continued across much of Europe, with the princess bringing Perfume wherever possible.

She also remembered the dog’s appetite, round pink belly and habit of claiming the princess’s lap as her personal throne, refusing to let anyone else sit there.

During trips to the seaside, Perfume would sit beside her as they looked out at the ocean together.

Beyond playful memories, the princess described the emotional support Perfume had provided during difficult times, particularly following the death of another beloved dog.

“I feel as though Perfume is my whole world,”

she wrote in Thai.

She also recalled Perfume’s amusing encounters with animals she considered her enemies, including moles, cats and birds.

In the closing passages of her tribute, the princess acknowledged that she had known Perfume’s time was nearing its end, describing her beloved companion as remarkably strong.

“You smelled sweet, just like your name, my child,” she wrote.

“No Yorkshire Terrier will ever replace you,” she added, before concluding: “You were beautiful until the very last moment.”

The princess signed her farewell with the words “Your Mommy”, followed by Perfume’s dates of birth and death: 19 October 2011 to 30 October 2026.

A separate message accompanying the tribute read: “No words can describe how much you were loved. Forever in our hearts.”
