SAMUT SONGKHRAM — 8 November 2026, A masked thief was caught on CCTV climbing over a wall and sneaking into a house in Samut Songkhram to steal 10 pairs of women’s underwear from a clothesline. The suspect fled with the underwear hidden inside his shirt but apparently dropped one black pair along the way.
The homeowner said she was frightened that the intruder might have been carrying a weapon and could return to commit a more serious crime. She has urged police to track down the suspect.
The incident took place at a house in Moo 3, Lat Yai subdistrict, Mueang district, Samut Songkhram province. The homeowner reported the theft to police at Mueang Samut Songkhram Police Station after reviewing CCTV footage that captured the suspect’s actions.
The footage showed a man dressed in dark clothing and wearing a head covering walking along the road in front of the house at around 04:07. He stopped to survey the area before climbing over a low wall at the side of the property.
After entering the compound, where several pickup trucks and motorcycles were parked, the suspect walked towards a clothesline under the carport and took several items of clothing. He then returned to the same wall and escaped into the darkness.
The entire incident took place while the homeowner was asleep. No one inside the house heard anything unusual.
The victim, identified as Nonglak Namnooch, 44, said she had washed and hung out her laundry several days earlier. When she was about to collect the clothes to wash them again, she noticed that some of her underwear was missing.
She initially asked her boyfriend whether he had collected the laundry, but he said he had not. This prompted her to check the CCTV footage, where she discovered the man climbing into the property at around 04:07.
About 10 pairs of underwear were missing. The suspect appeared to have concealed them inside his shirt before making his escape.
After discovering the theft, Nonglak consulted her neighbours and searched a garden beside the house, which they suspected might have been where the thief parked his vehicle.
They found a black pair of women’s underwear on the ground. Nonglak recognised it as one of the missing items and believed the suspect had dropped it while fleeing. Footprints were also found near the wall used to enter the property.
Nonglak said a similar theft had occurred around June last year. However, the family had not installed CCTV cameras at the time, leaving them without evidence, and they did not file a police complaint.
What frightened her most this time was the CCTV footage, which appeared to show the suspect holding an unidentified object. She could not determine whether it was a knife or another type of weapon.
She feared that if the man returned, the incident might escalate beyond underwear theft.
Nonglak said she lives with her boyfriend, and only the two of them were at home when the incident occurred. Neither heard the intruder, leaving her feeling unsafe, particularly when she has to stay home alone.
She appealed to police to step up surveillance and urgently identify and arrest the suspect.
The victim has submitted the CCTV footage as evidence and filed a formal complaint with Mueang Samut Songkhram Police Station. Officers have inspected the scene and are investigating to bring the suspect to justice.
