PHUKET — 30 August 2026, A 43-year-old Russian man was found dead inside a condominium in Kathu district on 30 August, with authorities estimating that he had died about three days earlier.
At around 21:00, police investigator Lt. Col. Natthayan Suphanphong of Kathu Police Station was notified of a person found dead inside room 24/89 at The Scene condominium in Kathu subdistrict.
She reported the incident to Kathu police chief Pol Col Chalermchai Hernsawat before travelling to the scene.
Investigators, an on-duty police team, a Kathu district officer and a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital inspected the room.
The deceased was later identified as Maksim Tarasov, 43, a Russian national. His body was found lying face down beside the bed in the bedroom.
An initial examination found no signs of a struggle or anything suspicious inside the room. His belongings and valuables also appeared to be intact.
A forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital estimated that Tarasov had been dead for approximately three days.
Following the examination at the scene, Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation rescuers transported the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital, where a detailed autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police will also coordinate with the Russian Embassy to notify the man’s relatives and arrange for the body to be released to his family for religious rites according to their traditions.
