LOPBURI — 4 September 2026, A 61-year-old duck noodle shop owner was shot dead at a night market in Lopburi on Wednesday night in an apparent dispute over a long-standing debt. The alleged gunman later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Police were called to Sa Kaeo Night Market in Thale Chup Son subdistrict, Mueang Lop Buri district, at about 21:00 on 3 September.
The shop owner, identified only as Phenphak, was found dead behind his duck noodle shop with gunshot wounds to his left chest and left arm.
About 20 metres away, a 64-year-old man, identified as Kookiat, was found critically injured with a gunshot wound to his head. He was taken to King Narai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said their initial investigation indicated that Kookiat had shot Phenphak before turning the gun on himself. Officers found one gun in his hand and another in his trouser pocket, along with three ammunition magazines.
The two men had reportedly argued repeatedly over money that had been borrowed some time ago. Police are continuing their investigation.
