Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand have sent royal relief supplies to Nepal to assist people affected by severe flash floods and landslides in northern Nepal.
At 10:55 on 5 September, Air Chief Marshal Jom Rungsawang, a Privy Councillor, presented the relief items to Nepalese Ambassador to Thailand Dhan Bahadur Oli at the aircraft hangar of 601 Squadron, Wing 6, Royal Thai Air Force Base.
The supplies will be delivered to people affected by the disaster that struck northern Nepal on 26 August.
Their Majesties have closely followed the situation with concern. Earlier, the King sent a message conveying Their Majesties’ condolences and sympathy, as well as those of the Thai people, to Nepal’s president and people.
The relief supplies include tents, polyethylene sleeping bags, relief packages for children, portable generators, flashlights, safety helmets and other essential items.
The Royal Thai Air Force will transport the supplies to the Royal Thai Embassy in Nepal, which will present them to the Nepalese government for distribution to those affected.
The royal assistance follows previous support provided to Nepal during the COVID-19 pandemic, when medical equipment, supplies and other relief items were sent to help the country’s public health efforts.
