DE Warns of Fake Ministry of Justice LINE Account

DE warns the public about a fake LINE account impersonating the Ministry of Justice and claiming to offer assistance to victims of online scams, urging people to beware of financial losses and theft of personal information.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), through the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand (AFNC), has released the latest results of its fake news monitoring and reporting efforts. The initiative is in line with the policy of Mr.Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, to strengthen public awareness of technology-related crimes, fake news, and misinformation.

On 7 September 2026, AFNC monitored a total of 105,800 messages, of which 6,844 required verification. The largest number of leads came from Social Listening, accounting for 6,835 messages, followed by nine messages received through LINE Official. A total of 12 issues required verification, with results received from relevant agencies for seven cases.

Among the eight stories that attracted the greatest public attention, two were confirmed as true, five were identified as fake news, and one was identified as misleading information:

True News: Thailand’s Universal Coverage Scheme (Gold Card) covers treatment for coronary artery disease, from diagnosis to surgery.

Fake News: The Government is giving THB 10,000 to all new State Welfare Card holders.

Fake News: The Government has allocated THB 1.6 billion to support public use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Fake News: Victims of online crime can contact Ministry of Justice officials through LINE ID: @084xtdfb.

True News: The Office of Rural Roads No. 7 (Ubon Ratchathani) has launched a LINE reporting channel to assist road users on rural highways.

Fake News: The “Clark Bank Tanner” Facebook page offers seven financial planning and investment programs comprising 46 free courses from the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Misleading Information: The Bangkok Governor met with the Israeli Ambassador to discuss developing Bangkok into a smart city.

Fake News: Executives of the Stock Exchange of Thailand have opened a Threads account to share investment experiences and insights.

One of the notable fake stories claimed that victims of online crime could contact Ministry of Justice officials through LINE ID: @084xtdfb. The DE Ministry, in coordination with the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, confirmed that the claim is fake.

The LINE ID is not an official communication channel of the Ministry of Justice. The Ministry does not use this account to provide assistance to victims of online crime through QR Code scanning or by asking people to add a LINE account to contact officials.

The LINE account may have been created by scammers impersonating the Ministry of Justice by using its name and official emblem. Such impersonation could mislead the public and expose people to fraud.

The DE Ministry remains concerned about the spread of fake news and misinformation across online and social media platforms. Sharing unverified information may lead to misunderstanding, financial losses, misuse of personal information, and broader impacts on society.

The public is encouraged to trust and share information only from official sources and to carefully verify facts and website links before believing or forwarding any information.

People who encounter suspicious information or possible fake news can report it or verify information through the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand via Hotline 1111 ext. 87, available 24 hours a day.
