Bhumjaithai MPs gather as Anutin prepares for 60th birthday

BANGKOK — 12 September 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul attended the weekly meeting of Bhumjaithai Party MPs on Saturday, a day before his 60th birthday, as political parties and business figures sent flowers and gifts to congratulate him.

Anutin, who is also leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, arrived at the party headquarters at 15:30 to chair the meeting scheduled for 16:30.

When reporters asked what he wished for on his birthday this year, Anutin turned and smiled but did not answer.

A birthday dinner and celebration for Anutin is scheduled for 18:00. His birthday falls on 13 September.

The party headquarters had been lively since the afternoon, with ministers, MPs and party members gradually arriving for the weekly meeting and birthday celebration.

Representatives from political parties and the private sector also brought flowers and other gifts, including Buddha statues, to congratulate the prime minister.

Those sending birthday wishes included Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun, Santi Promphat, a Phetchabun MP, Yutthana Sritabut, a Nong Khai MP and secretary-general of the Palang Pracharath Party, and Sulaiman Bueanapina, a Yala MP from the Prachachat Party.

Supachai Chearavanont, senior vice chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, also sent a flower arrangement to Anutin.
