BANGKOK — 27 September 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the flooded Khlong Chan Housing Estate in Bang Kapi district travelling by boat to deliver relief bags to residents as floodwater reached about 1.5 metres.
Anutin arrived at around 18:00 to inspect the flood situation in the Khlong Chan area. He was briefed by Pol Gen Samran Nuanma, deputy commissioner-general of the Royal Thai Police.
The prime minister also met rescue volunteers working to assist residents affected by flooding in the area.
Anutin later met Energy Minister Eknat Promphan and the “Sud Soi” volunteer team, who were assisting flood victims and helping vulnerable residents leave areas where water levels were high.
The prime minister then boarded a boat to distribute relief bags to residents at the Khlong Chan flats. Floodwater surrounding the buildings was reported to be about 1.5 metres deep.
Residents came out to receive essential supplies and dry food while Anutin offered encouragement to those who remained in the flats.
Residents also asked authorities to urgently provide two water pumps to remove floodwater from the buildings’ pump rooms. They said the flooding had left residents without clean water for daily use.
Anutin asked about the type and specifications of pumps needed, according to the report, so that the equipment could match residents’ requirements.
During the visit, a man inside the housing estate was heard shouting at Anutin, asking, “Why did you come?”
A staff member responded, “We brought water for you,” while personnel stood between the man and the prime minister.
As Anutin left the housing estate, residents could be seen standing on balconies and calling out to him along the route.
Government agencies, including military, police and Interior Ministry personnel, were also deployed in the area to help residents travel to and from their homes by boat. The Mall Group was also reported to have distributed relief bags.
