DE warns the public about the fake “Thai Sang Ngan” Facebook page falsely claiming endorsement by the Department of Employment, urging people to beware of scammers seeking money and personal information.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), through the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand (AFNC), has released the latest results of its fake news monitoring and reporting efforts. The initiative is in line with the policy of Mr.Chaichanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, to strengthen public awareness of technology-related crimes, fake news, and misinformation.
On 1 August 2026, AFNC monitored a total of 108,910 messages and identified 8,026 messages requiring verification. The largest number of reports came from Social Listening channels, accounting for 8,023 messages, followed by three reports received through LINE. A total of 19 issues were investigated, with verification results received from relevant agencies for eight cases.
Among the seven stories that attracted the greatest public attention, two were confirmed as true, three were identified as fake news, and two were classified as misleading information. These included:
True News: Thailand has successfully developed a botulinum antitoxin and received approval from the Thai Food and Drug Administration.
Fake News: The Pa Sak River turned black with white foam covering the surface due to repeated wastewater discharges from factories.
True News: Chiang Mai has recorded more than 23,900 cumulative HIV cases.
Fake News: Thailand and Cambodia reached seven agreements to reopen border checkpoints.
Fake News: The “Thai Sang Ngan” Facebook page promoting handmade jobs is endorsed by the Department of Employment.
Misleading Information: The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) is carrying THB 1.13 trillion in debt and has set its lowest debt repayment budget in years due to government policies.
Misleading Information: Four police officers from Ra-ngae Police Station are being detained for questioning at a military camp.
One of the most notable fake stories claimed that the Facebook page “Thai Sang Ngan – Handmade Job Management Group” was endorsed by the Department of Employment. The DE Ministry coordinated with the Department of Employment under the Ministry of Labour and confirmed that the page is not affiliated with the Department, either at the central or regional level.
The Department confirmed that the page is fake and was created by scammers who unlawfully used the Department’s official logo. The public is urged not to trust the page or provide any personal information, as it may be misused or lead to fraud.
People seeking official employment information or job opportunities are advised to use only the Department of Employment’s official channels, including its official website, the Thai Mee Ngan Tham (Thai Jobs) website, and the Thai Mee Ngan Tham mobile application.
The DE Ministry remains concerned about the spread of fake news and misinformation across online and social media platforms. Sharing unverified information may lead to misunderstanding, financial losses, misuse of personal information, and broader impacts on society.
The public is encouraged to trust and share information only from official sources and to carefully verify facts and website links before believing or forwarding any information.
People who encounter suspicious information or possible fake news can report it or verify information through the Anti-Fake News Center Thailand via Hotline 1111 ext. 87, available 24 hours a day.
