Nepal 2015: Relive the Nightmare, Witness the Courage

BANGKOK — After a devastating earthquake ravaged Nepal two years ago, a photographer who took to the streets and captured the aftermath will show his work in Bangkok later this month.

When the 7.8 magnitude tremor and its aftershocks turned much of the South Asian nation to rubble on April 2015, Omar Havana began a mission to document its consequences.

From the harrowing images of distraught families to barren landscapes of liquefaction, Havana selected some of those photos to show as Endurance, which portrays the resilience displayed by those who survived.

The project will show next month at an exhibition attended by Havana. The photographer will sign copies of his book, also titled “Endurance,” which will be on sale.

Endurance by Omar Havana will start at 7pm on April 21 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand, which can be reached via skywalk from BTS Chit Lom’s Exit No. 2. Entry is free.
