CHONBURI — Three freight cars overturned after a cargo train derailed in Chonburi province on Friday afternoon. No injuries or deaths were reported.
Police at Mueang Chonburi Police Station were notified of the incident at about 15:00 on 4 September 2026. The derailment occurred near a railway crossing in Moo 1, Nong Khang Khok subdistrict, Mueang Chon Buri district.
Officers went to the scene and coordinated with relevant agencies to assess the situation and clear the railway line.
The freight train had travelled from Hua Takhe in Bangkok and was heading towards Laem Chabang when it derailed.
Three freight cars left the tracks and overturned beside the railway. The cars were damaged and left tilted and lying on their sides, causing concern among residents in the surrounding area.
Authorities said there were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
The derailment disrupted rail services along the route. Officials brought personnel and equipment to the scene to inspect the tracks and begin recovering the overturned cars.
Authorities were also working to clear the railway line and restore normal train operations as quickly as possible.
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation. Relevant agencies are examining the incident to determine what caused the three freight cars to leave the tracks and overturn.
