RAYONG — 9 September 2026, A fire gutted a popular pork rice bowl restaurant in Rayong early Wednesday morning, with officials initially suspecting an overheated refrigerator may have caused the blaze. No injuries were reported.
At around 07:00, the Rayong provincial police 191 emergency centre received a report of a fire at a commercial building housing a pork rice bowl restaurant on Tha Bap Road in Noen Phra subdistrict, Muang district.
Firefighters from Rayong City Municipality and Noen Phra Subdistrict Municipality were dispatched to the scene with water trucks and emergency crews.
Upon arrival, officials found flames engulfing the building, with thick black smoke pouring from the structure. The restaurant contained cooking equipment and other flammable materials, allowing the fire to spread rapidly.
Firefighters cordoned off the area and worked to prevent the blaze from spreading to neighbouring buildings. It took around two hours to bring the fire under control.
The restaurant owner told officials that the fire broke out while preparations were underway to open the shop and serve customers as usual. The initial assessment suggested the fire may have started at a refrigerator inside the restaurant, which had reportedly become extremely hot before sparks and flames emerged from the back of the unit.
The flames then quickly spread to nearby belongings and parts of the building, causing extensive damage to the restaurant’s interior, equipment and property.
Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were reported.
Police and forensic officers are expected to conduct a detailed examination of the scene to assess the total damage and determine the exact cause of the fire.
