Skeleton found in forest Identified as missing man

LAMPANG — 20 April 2026, A human skeleton discovered in a forest in Ko Kha district has been identified by relatives as a 76-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease who had been missing for more than a month, police said.

Pol. Capt. Kantkawee Meetham, a deputy investigator at Ko Kha police station, said officers were alerted to the discovery in the Mae Hai National Forest, near Mae Hai reservoir in Moo 2, Na Saeng subdistrict.

Police, forensic officers, rescue workers and a doctor from Ko Kha Hospital were dispatched to examine the scene.

They found scattered skeletal remains, including a skull, indicating the person had been dead for some time. Nearby were clothing, a wristwatch and a bicycle.

Relatives confirmed the items belonged to Samroeng Klai-in, 76, a resident of Na Kaeo subdistrict, who suffered from Alzheimer’s disease and had been missing since 5 March.

Authorities said the death is initially believed to be from natural causes. The remains have been sent to Lampang Hospital for DNA identification and a detailed examination to determine the exact cause of death.
