CHONBURI — 6 September 2026, A 44-year-old man brought more than 8,900 eggs to a temple in Chonburi on Sunday to fulfil a vow after claiming he had won lottery prizes in about 10 consecutive draws.
Damrong, a resident of Si Racha district, made the offering at Wat Woraphot Sangkhawat in Bang Nang subdistrict, around noon.
He said he had previously prayed for good fortune at an old statue of Thao Wessuwan, a guardian deity associated by many Thai worshippers with protection, prosperity and luck.
Damrong prepared an offering table with red roses, red soft drinks, drinking water and thousands of chicken eggs before lighting incense and performing a ceremony to fulfil his vow.
After the ceremony, he tried his luck again by drawing numbered ping-pong balls, which produced the number 570. He showed the number to reporters and residents, several of whom wrote it down as a possible lottery tip for the 16 September draw.
Damrong said he first discovered the Thao Wessuwan shrine while working as a driver transporting workers. He had stopped to rest inside the temple grounds and noticed the old statue nearby.
He said he prayed there for luck and later began winning small lottery prizes.
As construction work was carried out at the temple, Damrong also volunteered to help without taking payment, considering the work a form of merit-making.
He later made another vow, promising that if he received a larger financial windfall, he would return with eggs, red drinks and roses.
According to Damrong, he subsequently won prizes in about 10 consecutive lottery draws, including a recent larger win that prompted him to return to the temple with more than 8,900 eggs.
Rather than taking the eggs home after the ceremony, he said he planned to distribute them to people living in communities around the temple to help reduce household expenses.
Damrong said he also intended to use 570, the number drawn after the ceremony, as a guide when choosing numbers for the government lottery draw on 16 September.
