BANGKOK — The Thai Red Cross Society has paid tribute to an emergency medicine doctor who died unexpectedly after falling critically ill, saying her decision to become an organ donor has given several patients a chance at a new life.
The Thai Red Cross Society on 8 September 2026 expressed its condolences to Dr. Ketjutha Makrod, known as “Dr. Ju”, an emergency medicine specialist at Sanam Chai Khet Hospital.
According to the Thai Red Cross, Dr. Ju had been working and treating patients as usual when she suddenly became ill. Her condition rapidly deteriorated and she entered a critical state.
Amid the family’s grief, her relatives made the decision to donate her organs in the hope of giving new life to patients waiting for transplants.
Her kidneys, eyes, heart valves, skin and bones have since been donated to help several people in need, the Thai Red Cross said.
The organisation said Dr. Ju’s death has brought profound sadness to her family, friends and colleagues, but her final act of generosity has also given others an opportunity to continue their lives.
“Although she is no longer here, her goodness will be remembered for a very long time,” the Thai Red Cross said.
Recipients of her donated organs, the organisation added, would always remember that someone had helped give them another chance to live.
Dr. Ju will be remembered not only as a beloved daughter, a good friend and a dedicated doctor, but also as a “giver of new life”, the Thai Red Cross said.
The Thai Red Cross Society expressed its deepest condolences to Dr. Ju’s family and friends, and paid tribute to her family for making the decision to donate her organs during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
