CHONBURI — 9 September 2026, A wildfire swept through a wooded area near homes in Sattahip district, prompting authorities to deploy multiple fire engines as crews battled the blaze for more than an hour.
At about 15:30, Sattahip Mayor Wasorn Siangchi was alerted to a large fire in a forested area in Moo 3 along Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip subdistrict, Sattahip district, Chonburi province.
The fire was burning dangerously close to residential areas, prompting the Sattahip Municipality’s Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Division to send several fire engines to the scene. Disaster prevention officials from Khet Udomsak Subdistrict Municipality also joined the firefighting operation.
Firefighters found the blaze spreading rapidly across a wide area of woodland, alarming residents living nearby.
While waiting for firefighters to reach the area, some residents helped pull out water hoses and spray water to prevent the flames from reaching their homes.
Authorities deployed firefighters and fire engines to tackle the blaze at several points. The fire continued to spread, while areas that had already been extinguished occasionally reignited, making the operation more difficult.
After more than an hour, firefighters managed to contain the blaze within a limited area and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
No residential properties had been reported damaged as of the initial assessment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Authorities are examining whether it was caused naturally or deliberately set by someone. Officials will inspect the area further to determine the exact cause.
