A 60-year-old woman was injured in a scuffle with a 24-year-old woman over a seat on Pattaya Beach, police said. Both said the dispute was about seating while drinking alcohol and denied any connection to prostitution.
Pol. Lt. Col. Chanan Ketsanbua, an inquiry officer at Pattaya City Police Station, was notified of the fight on 22 October. It took place on the beach opposite a shopping mall near the station in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri.
The older woman told police she had been looking at her phone and left her bag by the seat before going to use the toilet at the police station. When she returned, she argued with the younger woman, and the dispute escalated into a scuffle.
She had a cut about 1 centimetre long and deep on her forehead, which was bleeding heavily, as well as abrasions on her body.

The 24-year-old said the beach was public and anyone could sit there. She said the older woman tried to make her leave, prompting a heated argument that turned into a scuffle.
The younger woman said she had caused the older woman’s head wound with her fingernails. She also said she was injured, with a broken nail and abrasions on her arms, torso and chest.
Both women denied that prostitution was involved, saying they had been drinking alcohol and had argued over the seat. Police recorded the incident and sent both women for medical treatment. They will be questioned, and officers will review CCTV footage to establish what happened.
