Nonthaburi — A fire broke out at Major Cineplex shopping mall near Nonthaburi Pier this afternoon.
Smoke was first seen from the basement of Major Cineplex Nonthaburi on Pibulsongkram Road around 3pm. The fire, which reportedly started in the mall’s storage room, was put under control shortly afterwards. There is no immediate report of any injuries or deaths.
“The cause has not been determined yet since we are still inspecting the scene,” said police Col. Montri Thetkhan of Nonthaburi police station. “The fire did not do much damage and took 30 minutes to control.”
The storage room is located in the basement level which is not open to the public, according to commander Montri.
The mall is located in the same vicinity with Nonthaburi Pier, a busy thoroughfare for commuters.
