Anutin represents King at Norway royal funeral in Oslo

BANGKOK — 9 September 2026, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul represented His Majesty the King at the funeral ceremony for King Harald V of Norway in Oslo before attending an official reception at the Royal Palace.

Trisulee Trisaranakul, secretary-general to the prime minister, said on 10 September that His Majesty the King had appointed Anutin as his representative to attend the funeral ceremony for King Harald V in Oslo.

The ceremony took place on 9 September at Oslo Cathedral, with Anutin attending at 17:30 local time.

After the funeral ceremony, Anutin attended an official reception at the Royal Palace in Oslo alongside royal guests, heads of state, members of royal families and senior representatives from countries around the world who had travelled to pay tribute and express their condolences.

The reception was hosted by King Haakon VIII of Norway following the funeral ceremony at Oslo Cathedral.

Anutin later posted photographs from the royal dinner on Facebook, saying he had attended a dinner hosted by Norway’s new King, Haakon VIII, at the Royal Palace in Oslo following the burial ceremony for King Harald V.

He said His Majesty the King had graciously appointed him as the royal representative to attend the ceremony.

Anutin also shared photographs and a message about his meetings with foreign leaders during the visit.

He said attending the funeral ceremony had provided an opportunity to meet a number of world leaders, including the presidents of Georgia, Latvia, Albania, Germany, Estonia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as the prime ministers of France, Norway, Sweden and Morocco.

“Although these meetings were brief, we made the most of the limited time to exchange views on bilateral relations, cooperation, trade, investment and new opportunities that could bring mutual benefits to Thailand and the countries represented by these leaders,” Anutin said.
