BANGKOK — The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched the “Amazing Beach Life Festival” this month next in 4 locations: Rayong, Phang-Nga, Phuket, and Songkhla. The festival features music, sports, and art on the beach.
Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, along with TAT Deputy Governor of Tourism Products and Business Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit, Executive Vice President – Sustainability PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited, or GC Mr. Chaya Chandavasu, and Pae Arak Amornsupasiri, an actor who enjoys Beach Vibes-style travel, attending the event at Thanarat Hall, 1st Floor, TAT Building on July 4.
Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates said that in an effort to boost tourism during Thailand’s green season, TAT has launched the “Amazing Beach Life Festival” project, which is part of a “big event” lineup set to take place in the latter half of this year.
“The selection of Rayong, Phang-Nga, Phuket, and Songkhla as host venues was based on their long-standing reputation as popular tourist locations. This year, and in the coming years, we aim to earn 3.5 trillion Baht from tourists,” he said.
In addition, Mr. Apichai Chatchalermkit mentioned that the event is intended to stimulate more travel among foreign and Thai tourists with high purchasing power and special interests in beach vibes and beach life. This will help spread tourism benefits across local communities in the four beach resort destinations and nearby attractions during the off-season.
The TAT will again emphasize Sustainable and responsible tourism during the event. Among these are decorations that do not harm the environment and a stand that showcases sustainable tourism enterprises that have won awards at the Thailand Tourism Awards. In addition, TAT and Global Chemical (PTTGC) are working together on waste management.
While Mr. Chaya Chandavasu stated that in this collaboration, GC provides tourists with a responsible event experience by considering the environment and correctly separating waste in the event area.
“We will install our “YOUTURN Platform” at the event to promote responsible tourism by encouraging tourists to participate in the waste management process. Used plastics will be recycled and upcycled to provide value and advantages,” said Chaya.
Additionally, through activities that give used plastics at the event more value, GC will provide experiences with responsible travel. The DIY activities, such as turning a bottle cap or plastic waste into a key chain or beads for free. Also, check out the chic beach-style eco-friendly fashion from UPTOYOU, a clothing brand that produces with “Revife Fiber by GC UPCYCLING” —a new option for creating fashionable products.
Pae Arak noted that while fewer people typically travel during the rainy season, this event will showcase the unique beauty of the sea and offer many season-specific activities.
“I usually enjoy beach travel and surfing, even during the rainy season when the waves are higher than in the high season. This aligns well with the event organized by TAT. It demonstrates that we can enjoy the Thai sea year-round. You might spot me at the concert or participating in sports activities at this event,” he said.
The Amazing Beach Life Festival is set to take place across four locations, each with a unique concept:
Rayong: “Tropical Beach” – Showcasing the vibrant colors of Rayong, known for its cuisine and Eastern fruits, at Laem Charoen Beach from July 12 to 14, 2024.
Phang Nga: “Beach Rhythms” – Enjoy the Andaman Sea’s party atmosphere from July 26 to 28, 2024.
Phuket: “Neon Waves” – Experience the fun of Patong City’s nightlife with neon lights reflecting off the sea at Patong Beach from August 2 to 4, 2024.
Songkhla: “Art Paradise” – Embrace the old town vibes of Songkhla as the beach transforms into an art paradise at Chalatat Beach from August 9 to 11, 2024.
The festival will feature various activities catering to beach vibe lovers, including Beach Life activities such as SUP-Boarding, where attendees can try out the sport under expert guidance.
Enjoy live music performances by renowned artists in a relaxing beach atmosphere, including F.Hero, PARADOX, Aof Pongsak, Singto Numchok, Atom Chanakan, Zom Marie, ZEAL, Safeplanet, Fellow Fellow, Slapkiss, Serious Bacon, YourMood, and TELEx TELEXs.
Entrance to the event is free. Water activities like SUP-Board and Surfskate, concert performances by Thailand’s leading artists, and DJ sets by the best in Thailand will deliver non-stop fun throughout the festival. Tattoo parlors and make-your-own workshops teaching techniques like painting on wooden trays and keychains are all part of the event.
Art installations and inflatable landmarks will provide amazing photo opportunities highlighting each area’s outstanding features. Visitors can enjoy local goods, food trucks, beach bars, full-scale fashion items, and booths from award-winning entrepreneurs in the Thai tourism industry at this event.
