PATTAYA – Local police responded to a late-night disturbance on Pattaya Beach Road after a confrontation between two groups of Uzbek nationals erupted into violence, causing alarm among tourists in the popular beach resort area.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:10 a.m. November 6 near Soi 13/4 on Pattaya Beach Road, when police were called to break up a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers found two rival groups engaged in a heated dispute, with both sides sustaining minor injuries.
According to Kiranuwat, 42, a local beach chair vendor who witnessed and recorded the incident, the conflict stemmed from territorial disputes over operating areas along the beach. “A new group of Uzbek women had encroached on an established group’s territory, leading to tensions,” he explained.
The situation escalated when male associates of one group arrived to mediate, but negotiations quickly broke down. During the police intervention, one foreign male suspect resisted arrest, requiring officers to physically restrain and handcuff him.
At the Pattaya City Police Station, all parties declined to press charges against each other. Police documented the incident and released the individuals after recording their information.
Local residents report ongoing concerns about unauthorized activities along Pattaya Beach Road, noting that various groups frequently operate in the area despite regular patrols by tourist police.
The incident highlights growing tensions over territorial disputes in the popular tourist destination, as local authorities continue efforts to maintain order in the beach area.
