Thailand sweep South Korea 3-0 to reach AVC Women’s Continental Championship semifinals

TIANJIN, China — 27 August 2026, Thailand’s women’s volleyball team advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 AVC Women’s Continental Championship after defeating South Korea 3-0 in the quarterfinals in Tianjin, China.

Thailand had won four of their previous five meetings with South Korea. However, South Korea claimed victory in their most recent encounter, beating Thailand 3-1 in the 2024 Volleyball Nations League in Brazil.

For Thursday’s match, head coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai, known as Coach Aod, named Chatchu-on Moksri, Pimpichaya Kokram, Kaewkalaya Kamulthala, Thatdao Nuekjang, Pornpun Guedpard and Sasipaporn Janthawisut in the starting six.

Piyanut Pannoy started as Thailand’s libero.

Thailand produced a dominant performance throughout the match, defeating South Korea in straight sets, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-21.

The victory sent Thailand through to the last four, where they will face the winner of the quarterfinal between Japan and Chinese Taipei, scheduled for 17:00.

Thailand will now look to maintain their strong form as they bid to advance to the tournament final.
