Drug-filled dolls and parcels from Europe seized in Bangkok

BANGKOK — 9 October 2026, Thai security, customs and anti-narcotics officials have intercepted four suspicious international parcels containing ecstasy, alprazolam and more than 450 grams of cocaine at Bangkok’s Express Mail Service Centre in Lak Si district.

The operation was carried out by the Internal Security Operations Command Region 1 (ISOC Region 1), through its Bangkok command, in cooperation with relevant agencies after customs and postal officials detected suspicious packages.

Lt. Gen. Phet-ek Intharat, deputy director of the Bangkok Internal Security Operations Command for military affairs, assigned Intelligence Collection and Verification Unit 101 to join the operation with personnel from the Express Mail Service Centre, the Customs Department, the Bangkok office of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, the Royal Thai Army’s operations intelligence unit and the Security Center.

Officials inspected four suspicious international parcels, two originating from Germany and two from the United Kingdom.

The two parcels from the United Kingdom contained white powder identified as cocaine. The substances weighed approximately 212 grams and 242 grams, respectively, including packaging.

Authorities seized the suspected drugs and collected them as evidence before transferring the case to Thung Song Hong Police Station for legal proceedings and further investigation into those involved.

Officials said the operation reflected cooperation among security and law enforcement agencies to monitor and intercept attempts to smuggle narcotics through international parcel delivery services.
