Update: Oct. 5 is Last Day to Pay Homage to King Bhumibol

Update Sept. 27: The Bureau of Royal Household extended the opening of the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha until Oct. 5, from its original date Sept. 30.

BANGKOK — Oct. 5 is the last day to pay respect to His Majesty late King Bhumibol as the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha will close nearly one month for the royal funeral.

The closure will run Oct. 6 through Oct. 29 for preparations and the ceremony to lay King Bhumibol to rest, according to the palace. The royal cremation will take place Oct. 26.

The two venues will reopen to the public on Oct. 30.
