BANGKOK — 31 August 2026, Thailand has scrapped its previous 60-day visa-free stay for tourists and introduced a new maximum stay of 30 days for eligible foreign visitors, according to an announcement published in the Royal Gazette on August 31.
The Interior Ministry announcement, titled “Determining the List of Countries and Territories Whose Passport or Travel Document Holders Entering the Kingdom Temporarily for Tourism Are Exempt from Visa Requirements and Permitted to Stay in the Kingdom for No More Than 30 Days,” sets out the revised visa exemption rules.
Under the new measure, passport or travel document holders from the following countries and territories may enter Thailand temporarily for tourism without a visa and stay for up to 30 days:

- Austria
- Bahrain
- Belgium
- Bulgaria
- Bhutan
- Brunei Darussalam
- Canada
- Croatia
- Cyprus
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Fiji
- Finland
- France
- Georgia
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary
- Iceland
- Indonesia
- India
- Ireland
- Israel
- Italy
- Japan
- Jordan
- Kuwait
- Kyrgyzstan
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Malaysia
- Maldives
- the Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Norway

Meanwhile, passport or travel document holders from Seychelles and Mauritius will also be exempt from visa requirements for tourism, but will be permitted to stay in Thailand for no more than 15 days.
The new rules will take effect 15 days after the announcement is published in the Royal Gazette.
