Thailand’s Chulada Choir has made history at the 14th World Choir Games in Sweden, becoming the first Thai secondary school choir to win a gold medal at the international competition.
The choir from Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Secondary School won gold with a score of 87.75 points in the Youth Choirs of Equal Voices category.
Chulada Choir also won a silver medal, scoring 79.25 points in the Sacred Choral Music a Cappella category.
The World Choir Games took place from 10-16 August in Helsingborg, Sweden, bringing together hundreds of choirs from around the world.
The gold medal represents a major milestone for Thailand’s choral music community, with Chulada Choir becoming the first secondary school choir from Thailand to claim gold at the World Choir Games.
The achievement reflects the students’ musical ability, discipline and dedication while putting Thai youth talent on the international stage.
Held every two years in different host countries, the World Choir Games is widely regarded as the “Olympics of choral music,” attracting hundreds of choirs to compete in a wide range of categories.
