PHUKET — Guests at a Phuket hotel were shocked this morning when the body of a foreign man was discovered hanging from a balcony. Security camera footage showed no signs of visitors to the deceased’s room or any evidence of a struggle.

Police Colonel Chatree Chookaew, Commander of Phuket City Police Station, along with forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital, provincial forensic officers, and staff from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation, responded to reports of a foreign national found dead on an exterior balcony of a hotel in Ratsada subdistrict on the morning of March 25.

Authorities identified the deceased as Mr. Roberto, a 77-year-old Argentine national who had been staying on the fifth floor of the hotel. Investigators found a chair and rope tied to the balcony railing, with a cigarette pack and lighter left nearby. This marks the third suicide by a foreign national in Thailand within the past few days, following the deaths of a 41-year-old German man residing in Nakhon Ratchasima who was facing charges for assaulting a dentist due to mental health issues on March 21, and a 64-year-old American dental professor at Chulalongkorn University who jumped from the 26th floor of a condominium in Bangkok on March 24.
