Residents reveal damage after flooding in Nan

NAN — 20 August 2026, flooding in Nan province continued to leave widespread damage after large volumes of water swept down from upstream areas.

Although water levels at some monitoring stations had begun to show signs of falling, floodwaters from upstream areas that inundated Pua and Tha Wang Pha districts had flowed into the municipal area of Nan City.

Heavy accumulated rainfall overnight also caused forest runoff to overflow riverbanks and inundate economic areas and communities along the Nan River. The flooding began overnight and continued into the morning.

As the water receded in some areas, residents began sharing images showing the extent of the damage left behind.

One Facebook user, a resident of Ban Rong in Pua district, posted photos of the aftermath with a message saying:

“This is the condition of Ban Rong. The entrance to the village was the first line to take the force of the forest runoff from the Khwang River as it swept into the community. Looking at it, it is no different from an apocalypse movie. It came fast and hard, without giving us any time to prepare. Sending encouragement to every family. 19/8/2026.”
