TOYOTA, Japan — 28 September 2026, Thailand’s Suthasini Sawettabut and Orawan Paranang secured a historic bronze medal in the women’s doubles table tennis at the 20th Asian Games “Aichi-Nagoya 2026” after losing to China’s Wang Manyu and Kuai Man in the semifinals.
The semifinal was held at Sky Hall Toyota, with the Thai pair, ranked No. 2 in the world, beaten 0-4 by China’s top-ranked Wang and Kuai, who is ranked No. 4 in singles.
The Chinese pair won 11-6, 11-8, 11-5 and 11-6 to advance to the final, where they will face Japan’s world No. 1 pair Miwa Harimoto and Hina Hayata.
Despite the semifinal defeat, Suthasini and Orawan secured Thailand’s historic bronze medal — the country’s first Asian Games table tennis medal in 68 years.
Table tennis made its Asian Games debut in 1958, but Thailand had never won a medal in the sport until the men’s team claimed bronze at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou.
The women’s doubles bronze in Aichi-Nagoya therefore marks another milestone for Thai table tennis at the continental games.
